Korea to help Ethiopia build more expressways

Ethiopia and South Korea in talks for the development of second generation express way roads in Ethiopia, The Reporter has learnt.

Following a recent visit by an Ethiopian delegation to Korea led by Ahmed Shide, Minister of Transport, Eum In-Sub, managing director of Korea Expressway Corporation (KEC), and his delegation has arrived in Addis Ababa this week on a similar visit which highlighted the expressway projects to be supported by Korea.

The Korean delegation met Ahmed today and discussed how to avail the needed support for Ethiopia.

Ahmed and In-Sub shared views on how the two countries have been bound by “blood and sacrifices”. Yet, Ahmed stressed that his government is preparing to embark on the second generation of expressway projects for which both technical and financial support is much needed from Korea. He also stressed the need to have many Korean experts in the project planning, designing and executions.
