Adama University stadium to host next round of EPL fixtures

The Betking Ethiopian Premier League (EPL) Share Company has confirmed that Adama University stadium will host the next round of league matches. The Betking EPL, which is currently taking place in Dire Dawa City, will conclude in the coming week after hosting six match weeks.

The Share Company, due to the lack of infrastructure, had decided to give the chance to Dire Dawa city, after a team from the Company came to a decision that Adama University does not fulfill the requirements to host matches, in regards to the pitch, lighting, dressing room, and other related facilities.

Following the reports from the team, Adama has been renovating the overall infrastructure of the stadium, and is now set to host the Betking EPL matches from week 16 onwards, hosting five match weeks.

The stadium will welcome a highly contested derby match between St. George and Ethiopian Coffee.

The share company is facing quality problems when it comes to stadiums that have full facilities. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) banned Bahir Dar stadium from hosting any international matches. The decision forced the Ethiopian national team to play a World Cup qualification match in a neutral stadium in South Africa.

Hawassa, Adama, Dire Dawa, Jimma, Bahir Dar and Addis Ababa have been selected by the share company to host this year league matches, of which, Addis Ababa stadium is still under construction.
