Ethiopian Premier League side Commercial Bank of Ethiopia FC has sacked Coach Tsegaye Kidane Mariam, effective Tuesday, February 14, 2017.
The club announced that the coach was given his marching orders because of the club’s poor performances in the 2016/17 season. CBE are in the relegation zone placed 15th with 13 points, winning three, drawing four and losing eight matches.
Their last league visit was a 2-0 away loss to Hawassa City on Thursday, February 9. He becomes the fourth manager to be shown the door this season, as the competition heats up.
It is rumored that Tsegaye would be appointed as the new coach of the Ethiopian National Football Team. His started his career with the former Harer Beer Football Club and after that he moved to Ethiopia Coffee in 2013. He later went to Hungary to take coaching lessons.
Meanwhile, in 2014 he was hired to coach the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia club. Since the 2016/17 Ethiopian Premier League started, three other coaches have also been sacked: Yohannes Sahle (Dedebit), Nebojsa Vucicevic (Ethiopia Coffee) and Derje Belay (Jimma Aba Bunna).
In the second round of the Ethiopian Premier League, Tsegaye’s assistant, Sisay Kebede, will be in charge of CBE FC while U-17 CBE coach Girma Tsegaye will be assistant coach.
