EPL to pause after match week 12

The Ethiopian Premier League (EPL) Share Company will halt the premier league following match week 12 due to the Ethiopian national team’s participation in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) taking place in Algeria.

Dire Dawa City will host the final two match weeks of the second round of league fixtures, which will culminate on December 26, 2022. The city had been scheduled to host up until week 10 of the schedule.

EPL share company general manager, Kifle Seife, revealed to The Reporter that the decision to hold the fixtures in Dire Dawa until match week 12 was made to avoid disrupting the games by moving to Adama Science and Technology University from week 10 on.

In preparation for hosting the third round of the EPL, the share company told the Adama Science and Technology University to refurbish and improve the field and other things related to it.

Kifle claims that the inspection team has been keeping track of the stadium’s development and has determined that it is prepared to hold a match. He noted that finding a favorable playing field to support competition is difficult.

The host cities should take the necessary steps to provide a standard stadium so that the league may continue without pause, according to Kifle.

Because the new model demands that they travel further and spend more money, sports fans are also attending stadiums less frequently.

The Share Company changed the timetable as a result to allow fans to attend some games.

After the match week 12 games, the games between St. George and Ethiopia Coffee and Wolayita Dicha and Sidama Coffee, which were originally scheduled for match weeks 12 and 11, respectively, have been shifted to Adama City.

Kifle says that attendance is increasing and anticipates a rise in numbers when the competition resumes in Adama and Addis Ababa.

Wubetu Abate, the national team’s head coach, has invited 42 players to compete in the African Nations Championship (CHAN). The Walias are in Group 1 with the hosts Algeria, Mozambique, and Libya. After December 27, the Walias are anticipated to start their regular preparations.

Once the national team has returned from the CHAN competition, the EPL will start up again five days later.
