Ethiopia’s young athletes to take part in Africa Championships

The U-18 and U-20 members of the Ethiopian athletics team are set to take part in the African Athletics Championships, the Ethiopian Athletics Federation (EAF) announced. Lusaka, Zambia will host the fourth African U-18 and 15th African U-20 championships from April 29 to May 3, 2023.

The team representing Ethiopia at the African Athletics Championship has begun regular training, with over 30 athletes of both sexes competing in the championship. Ethiopia will be represented in events ranging from 800 meters to 10,000 meters, and the national team includes nine coaches and four medical team members. The team is reportedly training regularly in Kaliti, Sandafa, Sululta, and the Ethiopian Sports Academy.

The athletes were chosen from the annual competitions held in the cities of Assela and Dire Dawa. All the athletes had never before participated in international competitions, according to the Federation. It stated that the national team is preparing well, but the lack of a training facility remains a challenge.
