President Mulatu Teshome (PhD) appeared before the two Houses on Tuesday to officially launch the second term of the fifth Ethiopian House of Peoples’ Representatives (HPR) and House of Federation (HoF). Because of the ongoing political unrest in the two most populous regions of the country, Oromia and Amhara, Mulatu’s address was highly anticipated. In his address, the President explored the root cause of the political turmoil in the two regions and set the stage for the possible reform directions that will be followed by the government in the coming months.
