Tesfahun Gobezay, Director General of Refugees and Returnees Services (RRS), has announced that he will leave his position effective July 21, 2023 after more than two years in the role.
In a letter to colleagues and stakeholders, Mr. Tesfahun said “I am writing to inform you that I will be leaving my position as Director General at Refugees and Returnees Services (RRS) starting from July 21, 2023. I want to thank you for the opportunity to work with you over the past two and a half years. I have learned so much from you, and I am grateful for your support and guidance.”
Tesfahun expressed confidence that his successors, Teyiba Hassen, along with Mulualem Desta, Yakob Yala and the incoming new Deputy DG, would “be able to take over the responsibilities seamlessly.”
Refugees and Returnees Services is a government agency that provides support and services to refugees and internally displaced persons in Ethiopia. The reason for Tesfahun’s departure was not disclosed in his announcement letter.
