Champions lose midfield talent

Former stars reunite at Fasil

Prominent Ethiopia midfielder Amanuel Gebremichael has signed for Fasil Kenema FC after leaving league champions St. George FC.

The midfielder inked a two-year deal to join the Emperors, raising expectations of a title challenge.

The 26-year-old linked up with another off-season recruit, Getaneh Kebede, generating excitement around their dynamic combination. Getaneh recently transferred from Wolkite Kenema, where he finished as the league’s second-top scorer despite their fight against relegation.

Joining forces with Amanuel, last season’s second top scorer, could elevate Kebede’s game to new heights. The striker will be eager to capitalize on more service from his former St. George teammate.

Amanuel moves to Fasil Kenema with an impressive trophy case, having won three championships. He was instrumental in Mekelle 70 Enderta’s 2019 title run. He joined St. George after fighting erupted in Tigray region, and won two more titles with the Horsemen.

The newcomers strengthen Fasil Kenema’s squad as they aim to dethrone St. George at the top of the table. With their proven track records, Gebremichael and Kebede give Fasil a dynamic attacking duo capable of sparking a title charge.
