Securities Exchange welcomes third banking shareholder

Global Bank S.C. is the latest commercial bank to invest in the Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX).

Formerly known as Debub Global, the bank follows in the footsteps of Zemen and Siinqee in acquiring a five percent stake in the Exchange, valued at 50 million birr.

The organizers behind ESX say they have raised close to one billion birr in capital since announcing offerings last May.

The Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH) and four state-owned enterprises under its wing hold a 25 percent stake in the upcoming capital market.

The offering is scheduled to close in a month’s time.
