Parliament to decide on MP’s legislative immunity tomorrow

Parliament will convene tomorrow to vote on a motion to lift the legislative immunity of one of its members, among a dozen items on the agenda for its 17th regular assembly.

The official parliamentary schedule does not specify which MP’s privilege is at stake, but inside sources told The Reporter it is likely to be Christian Tadele, a member of the opposition National Amhara Movement (NAM) party.

Christian and Dessalegn Chanie, another MP and NAM member, have been in custody for months now.

Other items on the parliamentary agenda tomorrow include loan agreements with the Italian government and International Development Association for thermal energy, educational training, and logistics sector projects.
