PRIME MINISTER HAILEMARIAM DESSALEGN TENDERS RESIGNATION

In an unprecedented turn of events, the Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Hailemariam Dessalegn has tendered his resignation from his post and the chairmanship of EPRDF.

His resignation as leader of the country, the first in the nation’s history, has been accepted by the executive committees of EPRDF and his party SEPDM, Hailemariam disclosed.

Hailemariam added that he has made the decision in light of the recent dire situation in the country and to “make way for a smooth transition of power.”
