Fasil beat Shashemene, Hawassa share spoils with Wolkite

Fikadu Alemu’s brace led Fasil to a 2-1 victory over relegated Shashemene City in the Ethiopia Premier League on Thursday, while Hawassa City and Wolkite ended in a 2-2 draw.

Shashemene City managed to hold off Fasil until halftime and remained competitive through most of the second half. However, Alemu broke the deadlock with a 78th-minute penalty, giving Fasil a 1-0 lead. He then doubled the lead in stoppage time, scoring again at 90+2 minutes, seemingly sealing the victory.

Despite this, Shashemene City quickly responded with a goal from Huzaf Ali at 90+3 minutes, narrowing the score to 2-1. In another match of the day, Wolkite twice came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw with Hawassa, a result that ultimately had no impact on their Premier League standings.

Abdulbasit Kemal gave Hawassa the lead in the 32nd minute to led 1-0 at the break.

Gadisa Mebrate equalised for Wolkite City from the penalty spot in the 49th minute.
