Dedebit aim surge as Adama host CBE

Week 12 of the Ethiopian Premier League (EPL) action will resume over the week with second placed Adama City hosting Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) the coming Thursday at the Abebe Bikila Stadium in Adama. Other matches will see Dedebit FC entertain Dire Dawa City while Dashen Beer face Hawassa City in Sunday’s fixtures.

In week 11, five games were played outside Addis Ababa. Hawassa City and Hosanna Hadiya both secured three three points while Dire Dawa City were held to a oneall draw by Ethiopia Coffee. The other match that was played in Yirgalem ended with a disappointment for the home team with Sidama Coffee being held by Dedebit in a game that ended two-two. Though Sidama Coffee had a comfortable two-goal lead before halftime, the do or die performance by Birhanu Bogale and Samson Tilahun saved the visitors from defeat. The Blues will have a chance to strengthen its surge to the top by hosting Dire Dawa City at Addis Ababa Stadium.

Elsewhere, two games in week 11 of the EPL were postponed due to CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup. The games will resume and Dashen Beer will face leaders Saint George while CBE will play against Defense FC. Both games will be played on March 5.

Champions Saint George FC sit on top of the table with 23 points from 10 games followed by Adama City, who sit second on goal difference. Dedebit is placed third with 19 points and Sidama Coffee follow with 18 points.

Adama City forward Tafesse Tesfaye leads the goal scoring chart with eight goals while Dedebit’s based striker Samuel Sanumi and Saint George’s midfielder Adane Girma trail with seven goals.
