UFIO abandons armed struggle

The United Front for Independent Oromia (UFIO), headed by Kemal Gelchu (Bir. Gen.), abandoned armed struggle and entered Addis Ababa to advance peaceful political activity, this afternoon.

A nine-member delegation led by Temam Bati arrived in Addis Ababa to seek peaceful political engagement in the country heeding the call by PM Abiy Ahmed (PhD). The delegation also heralded their intention to establish a political party in Ethiopia. The UFIO has been operating in the US, Canada and Europe.

The delegation was received by Ahmed Shide, Minister of Government Communications Affairs Office.
