The former President of Ethiopia Girma Woldegiorgis, who has been the head of state for 12 years replacing Negasso Gidada (PhD), passed away after five years of retirement. He was replaced by Mulatu Teshome (PhD) who resigned months ago to be replaced by Sahilework Zewede. Sahilework became the first female head of state in the Ethiopian history.
Since his retirement, President Girma has been engaged in various environmental protection and green development promotion.
President Girma is survived by his five children.
