Local firm receives award for promoting hotel brands

The Global Brands Magazine (GBM), a UK-based publication devoted to news and opinions on brands that are shaping the future of their industry,has recognized Calibra Consultancy and Business PLC for its efforts in promoting hotel investment and branding in the Ethiopian hospitality sector.

During the recently held award ceremony, GBM has presented the recognition award to Neway Berhanu, managing director of Calibra Consultancy and Business PLC. The magazine has been promoting and awarding brands in various fields for so many years.

The categories include: airlines, airports, automobile, Banking/finance, education, energy, oil and gas, forex, food and beverage, healthcare, insurance, hotel/hospitality and the likes.Caliba Consultancy is honored for its contribution to tourism sector in Ethiopia: “Leading hospitality management and tourism consultancy brand”.

According to GBM, Calibra have been nominated for the awardbased on the criteria that include leadership, innovation and overall impact on the industry. Calibra was awarded based on the outcomes of the evaluation based on these criteria, GBM stated. Neway and the other cofounder and managing partner of Calibra, Yonas Moges, have also been recognized for their leadership roles at the consultancy firm, GBM noted. “Calibra Hospitality has not only established itself as leading hospitality consultancy company in Ethiopia, but also the standard for the niche hospitality consultancy/advisory sector in the country”, The magazine said adding that the consulting firm has produced “high value results for clients and thereby elevating the visibility, respect, professionalism and impact of hospitality management professionals and organizations across Ethiopia”.

The most essential criteria which focuses on the impact segment has recognized Calibra Hospitality for facilitatingthe conclusion of close to 25 international hotel brand deals and out of which 5 projects have begun operations and many are about to open doors soon. Attracting and inducing an investment size of close to USD one million into the hospitality sector in Ethiopia,and raising the overall internationally branded hotel rooms to 4,000 and creating direct jobs for some 8,000 Ethiopians have all been considered in recognizing Calibra Hospitality from Ethiopia, GBM detailed. In fact, the consulting firm was also considered for sourcing, facilitating and concluding foreign financing of USD 70 million for investment projects.

In addition to that,Calibra Hospitality has been effectively collaborating with the UK-based Bench Events Ltd. in organizing the Africa Hotel Investment Forum (AHIF). GBM looked in to both Neway and his team matesregarding the roles theyplay to facilitate the up-and-coming hospitality event of AHIF, which was hosted in Addis Ababa back in 2014 and 2015. The forum will be hosted for the third time in the capital and Calibra Hospitality is collaborating with Bench Events together with authorities to organize the 2019 series of the upscale forum by the end of September.

In addition to Calibra Hospitality, another local firm, “Yes-Your Employment Solutions” has been awarded as the “best recruitment firm in Ethiopia” under the Human Resource and Consulting category.

The Global Brands Magazine has been featuring, analyzing and evaluating global brands and awarding companies that meet standards of promoting brands mostly in the health, education, finance, technology, tourism sectors and the like.
