A firm stance
American President Donald Trump of the US held an audience with the Foreign Ministry heads of Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt in Washington DC. Furthermore, he promised to personally make an appearance in Ethiopia when the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam is completed and inaugurated, according to Fistum Arega (second from right), the Ethiopian Ambassador to the United States. The President, calling the Dam “one of the largest in the world, currently being built”, described the meeting as going “well”. Ethiopia’s delegation headed by Foreign Minister Gedu Andargachew (second from left) also had an audience with the top leadership of the American Treasury and the World Bank, observers of the negotiation. The final agreement is to be completed by January 15th and if no agreement is reached, “the foreign ministers agree that Article 10 for the 2015 Declaration of Principles will be invoked”, said a statement released by Ethiopia’s Energy Minister Seleshi Bekele (PhD) (right), Ethiopia’s Minister of Water, Irrigation and Electricity. Also part of the meeting from the Ethiopian side is Gedion Asfaw (Eng.) (left) Chair of the Tripartite National Committee.
