Match day six
Match day six of the Ethiopian Premier League (EPL) is set to take place across the country over the weekend with St. George hosting Hawassa City on Sunday while Bahir Dar takes on Ethiopia Coffee and Adama City play against Mekele City.
Winning only one from three matches, St. George a.k.a. the Horsemen face a stern test from a visiting Hawassa City who have won three, drew one and lost one. Hawassa City who have played five league games sit atop the league with 10 points. In match day five, with new appointee John Stewart Hall, the Horsemen took center stage losing out to Sidama Coffee (2-1) leaving them 10th in the league table with only three points to show for.
Tomorrow’s fixture list sees Bahir Dar City take on Ethiopia Coffee. The newly promoted side, Bahir Dar has only played three matches managing to win one and drawing the rest. Bahir Dar sit seventh on the table while Ethiopia Coffee placed second has eight points. It is evident that the rescheduling of matches has caused clubs not to hit their full stride at the start of the season with clubs often putting in a below par performances.
In another match, Adama City hosts Mekele City at Abebe Bikila Stadium. Placed at the bottom of the table with two points, Adama continued their lackluster form losing two matches and drawing two, respectively.
Elsewhere, due to the political unrest in the region between the northern clubs matches has been postponed until the two regions come to a solution. However, the two regions have reached an agreement after both sides’ managements discussed. Fasil City, Mekele, Bahir Dar, Welwalo Adigrat University and Suhul Shire are the clubs who did not want to play their away matches due to the unrest in the region.
