New governor meets private banks’ presidents privately
Yinager Dessie (PhD), the new governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE), is having subsequent one-to-one meetings with the presidents of private banks in the country.
Yinager, who was recently appointed to lead the central bank replacing the long-serving chief Teklewold Atnafu, has sent every bank a schedule of when they will have a face time with him.
Before coming to the central bank, Yinager has been serving as commissioner for the National Planning Commission (NPC).
According to sources, the discussions focus on a slew of issues including challenges the banks face in their operations.
