Walias to host Rwanda in Mekele Stadium
The Ethiopian National team a.k.a. the Walias are set to host Rwanda in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers on Sunday, in Mekele Stadium. The Walias have commenced preparation in the newly built Mekele International Stadium.
The players selected for this tournament will be players who are currently playing in the domestic league. Walias first qualifiers against Djibouti ended with a 5-3 aggregate score.
A total of 16 teams will qualify to play in the final tournament, including Cameroon automatically qualifying as hosts for the competition. Ethiopia was confirmed as a host country by CAF, however, due to political tensions in the country and incomplete infrastructures, CAF announced the change of a host country, giving it to Cameroon.
