Walias travel to Rwanda
After sufferinga painful defeat at the hands of Rwanda (1-0) in the first leg match in Mekele stadium, the Ethiopian national team has travelled to Kigali, Rwanda on Thursday for the second leg match of the 2019 CHAN competition. The match is scheduled to take place today.
Preparing for the last ten days in Bahir Dar stadium,Coach Abraham Meberatu has selected 20 players,who are currently playing in the domestic league. Walias first qualifiers match ended in a disappointment; however, the second leg match will be crucial in order to continue on their journey to the 2019 CHAN tournament.
Walias, after a poor run in the 32nd edition of African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification and continental competitions, appears to be struggling.In this regard, the Walias were beaten 1-0 by Uganda in a friendly match on Sunday, in Bahir Dar stadium. Several reports suggest that Abraham will be axed if Walias were to be defeated by Rwanda. It is to be recalled that, Coach Abraham had vowed, as a target, to qualify to 2020 CHAN tournament.
