Bankers association reelects sitting president
The Ethiopian Bankers Association – a professional association of banks in the country – has reelected Addisu Habba to continue serve as president for the coming three years. Addisu is the president of Debub Global Bank.
The Association replaced the vice president, Bekalu Zeleke, president of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE), by Abbie Sano. Abbie is the president of Oromia International Bank (OIB).
According to the bylaws of the Association, a candidate who got the highest number of votes becomes the president while a candidate with the second highest votes serves as vice president.
Apart from the president and the vice president, the Association also elected presidents of CBE, Awash, OIB, Dashen, United, Nib, Debub, Zemen, Berhan, Anbessa, Addis and Abyssinia into the board of directors.
The recent selection of Addisu as president of the Association makes him the only one to serve in that position as president of three different commercial banks. He has been president of the now dissolved Construction and Business Bank (CBB) when he first became president of the Association. Then he became president of Bank of Abyssinia from which he moved to Debub Global Bank.
Addisu has more than 40 years of experience in the banking sector embarking his banking job from the CBB.
