ESLSE leads state enterprises in generating revenue
The Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise (ESLSE) is once again on the forefront in leading government enterprises bagging the highest revenue in the past nine months under the Ministry of Public Enterprises (MoPE).
This was revealed at a meeting, which was held at Ghion Hotel on Monday that was chaired by Teshome Toga, the newly appointed minister of MoPE.
According to the corporate communication statement issued after the meeting, enterprises and corporations over the past nine months have generated a sum of some 26.7 billion birr in revenue from their operation and productions. This only achieved 70 percent of the target set earlier. The target was to make a collective sale amounting to some 38.3 billion birr.
In terms of profit, their target was to collect 2.5 billion birr. However, they managed to achieve only two billion birr from the stated amount.
Among the enterprises, some produced and sold their products in foreign markets and were able to collect USD 15 million out of the projected USD 19 million.
Out of the total number of enterprises and corporations, only Construction Input and Supply Enterprise, National Alcohol and Liquor Factory and Ethiopian Tourist and Trading Organization are the few that managed to achieve above 95 percent performance level. In terms of profit, the performing enterprises include Ethiopian Agriculture Works Corporation, National Alcohol and Liquor Factory, Construction Input and Supply Enterprise and Birhanena Selam Printing Enterprise.
ESLSE tops the stated companies bagging 13.5 percent of the total revenue from services and sales. The Ethiopian Sugar Corporation and Construction Input and Supply Enterprise are ranked 2nd and 3rd by contributing 5.1 and 2.8 percent of the revenue, respectively.
