Ethiopia licenses 20 overseas employment agencies

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (MoLSA) announced that it has issued license to 20 agencies out of the 923 that applied to operate in Ethiopia as an overseas employment agency.

This was disclosed today on a press conference given by the State Minister Misganaw Admassu (Amb.), Human Resource Director Abebe Haile and Overseas Employment Director Berhanu Abera.

Gov’t lifts Middle East employment travel ban

The government of Ethiopia has decided to lift foreign employment permit ban levied specifically on Ethiopians traveling to the Middle East in search of jobs as domestic workers beginning tomorrow January 30, 2018. The ban went into effect four years ago following public outcry regarding the conditions of Ethiopians who faced brutality in the hands of their employers in the region.
