Kindergarten? School? Where is the boundary?
Back home the child is burdened with a lot of responsibilities immediately after he/she joins kindergarten. Every activity they are doing is more of close to the role of school. There is no clear boundary between school and kindergarten.
A city worthy of its name
One month has passed since my arrival in Addis Ababa. Before I arrived, I did not know that Addis Ababa is blessed with so many flowers. This is a new discovery of mine. Irises bloom in early June in Japan, while here I can see them blooming now.
When in Africa, do as the Chinese do – in China
For 99.9 percent of foreigners working (studying) and living in China, this singular opportunity can only be realized under the complete control of the Chinese government. Unlike many countries in Africa, you cannot just drift into China, pay a visa on arrival and then hustle your way through an ethnic-based network of informal support.

A message to my Oromo brothers
Rivers may stop flowing and the rain may fail to pour down but our history of love remains forever in our hearts. Oromo people have been our neighbors and our reliable brothers and sisters when crisis arise; however, nowadays, those who do not want peace are trying to take peace away from us.

The primary role of religion and spirituality is to reconnect, the very meaning of the Latin word religio-meaning ligaments. The Greek word polis – which led to the word politics – simply means city or public forum, where people come together. Why have religion and politics become so antagonistic when they have similar goals?
Justice should not be for sale at a negotiable price
As citizens all of us dream of living in a country where every law abiding citizen enjoys freedom of thought and freedom of deed unequalled of the advantage of this freedom. We have never compared our existing freedom with the curtailed freedom in other countries. Here, we have at least an emerging constitutional freedom of thought, freedom in the choice of business, profession or occupation, freedom to accumulate and own.

Renowned athlete and two-time Olympic gold medalist, Haile Gebreselassie recently condemned the treatment of clergyman Abba Girma, (or if need be the treatment of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church) in his reaction to the video that shows an exorcism involving Getie Wamie – another world renowned athlete who hails from Ethiopia.
