Government declares state of emergency

The Council of Ministers declared a State of Emergency after a day-long deliberation on the decree issued to provide for it.

Chaired by Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn, the Council of Ministers was set to brief the media after deliberating and deciding on the proclamation, which was eventually canceled later.
