16 clubs await new season

The new season of the Ethiopian Premier League (EPL) is set to kick-off on Sunday, December 1, 2019, with 16 clubs participating in the season-long competition.

EAF fines Hussein Makke USD 25,000

The Ethiopian Athletics Federation (EAF) has confirmed it has overturned its decision to terminate its agreement with athletes’ representative, Hussein Makke, for allowing banned athletes to participate in races. The EAF has fined Hussein Makke USD 25,000 taking into account his positive contribution to Ethiopian athletics.

IAAF changes name to World Athletics

The International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) has officially changed its name to World Athletics. The change comes with the launch of a new website with a new URL.

Ethiopian athlete tests positive for doping

Birhanu Tsegu, an Ethiopian athlete who has won the 10,000 meter race in Rabat, Morocco has tested positive for doping. The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has announced that Birhanu has been suspended for testing positive for Erythropoietin (EPO).
