World Athletics postpones World Indoor Championships

The 2021 World Athletics Indoor Championships has been postponed. The world’s athletics governing body, World Athletics (WA), announced the decision to postpone after holding discussions with the organizing committee. The World Athletics Indoor Championships was scheduled for March 19-21, 2021 in Nanjing, China.

2020/21 EPL season to commence today

The Ethiopian Premier League (EPL) 2020/21 season is set to resume today. In today’s match, St. George will face Fasil City, while Sebeta take on Dire Dawa in the opening fixtures of the season in Addis Ababa stadium.

Derartu runs for EAF Presidency

St. George FC, the 14 times Ethiopian Premier League (EPL) champions, have established a share company to generate a sustainable financial income. The club plans to raise 244 million birr from the sale of shares to registered fans, the club board said.

CAF Cancels general assembly in Addis Ababa

The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has cancelled the 42nd ordinary general assembly which was scheduled to take place on December 11, 2020, in Addis Ababa. Following the recommendation of the medical committee, the CAF Emergency Committee decided that next month’s session will be held via video conference.

Lidia shortlisted for women world cup

Ethiopian referee Lidia Tafese has been shortlisted to officiate at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand from July 10th to August 20, 2023. FIFA has selected 19 African referees for the upcoming Women’s World Cup.

Diamond league unveils 2021 calendar

The Wanda Diamond League has released its provisional calendar for the 2021 season, which will see a return to full schedule of 14 meetings, culminating in a winner-takes-all season finale in Zürich.
