Semayawi Party a.k.a Blue announced it has finalized its preparation to conduct its second general assembly meeting by December 30, 2018 where the party is expected to deliberate on the issue of joining hands with two other parties: Patriotic Ginbot 7 Movement for Unity and Democracy and Ethiopian Democratic Party (EDP).
The Ethiopian Democratic Party (EDP), which was in an internal strife due to differences within the leadership of the party for the past one year, reaffirmed its commitment to continue its peaceful struggle for the realization of a democratic political system in the country.
Following the trends of unification, democratization process, and political participation on a broader arena which is currently being observed in the country, leaders of the Ethiopian Democratic Party (EDP), Semayawi Party and the Ethiopian Ra’ey Party will meet next week to discuss over the possibility of forming a unified or a coalition party, The Reporter has learnt.
A rift among the leadership of the Ethiopian Democratic Party (EDP) continues as veteran party leader Lidetu Ayalew contested the decision of the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) to uphold its ruling that Chanie Kebede (PhD) is the legitimate president of the party.
The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) earlier this week passed verdict over disagreement among leadership of the Ethiopian Democratic Party (EDP), reaffirming that Chane Kebede (PhD) is the legitimate president of the party, board head of public relations, Tesfalem Abay, told The Reporter.
