Sahle-work welcomes Eritrean ambassador to Ethiopia

Five months after Ethiopia and Eritrea officially ended a two-decade old stalemate and somewhat restored normalcy in relations, President Sahle-work Zewde received a credentials letter of the newly appointed Eritrean head of mission, Semere Russom at the National Palace on Thursday.

Confusion at the border

In a surprise turn of events this weeks, the government in Asmara is reported to have closed down it borders with Ethiopia, adjoining the Tigray Regional State, from the side of  Eritrea with no official explanation yet offered by both countries.

UN lifts sanctions against Eritrea

United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Wednesday unanimously voted to lift a range of international sanctions which were imposed on Eritrea almost a decade ago; the decision comes after four months since Eritrea signed a peace agreement with Ethiopia ending the 15 years no-war-no-peace situation between the two countries.
