Media council calls for concerted fight against COVID-19
The Ethiopian Media Council called on media houses to transcend beyond their editorial differences in the fight against the global Coronavirus pandemic. In a statement the Council sent to The Reporter, it requested media houses and journalists to provide verified, quick and dependable information to their audiences.
Ministry begins rebuilding oxygen plants as critically-ill patients increase
Understanding concerns over the shortage of oxygen supply for COVID-19 patients, the Ministry of Health is building new plants and repairing existing ones in order to increase the actual production of oxygen to 3,267 metric cubes per hour, up from the existing 1,805 metric cube per hour.
Commission incinerates smuggled tobacco items worth 181 million Birr
The Ethiopian Customs Commission announced it has incinerated 181 million Birr worth of tobacco products, which were smuggled into the country during the last six months. This is equal to a third of an aggregate amount of tobacco items seized by authorities since 2016/17.

UNAIDS announces Fast-Track Targets will not be achieved
The United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) 2020 Report released this week indicated that the global Fast-Track Targets set, which will expire at the end of 2020, will not be achieved.
