Protest hits Oromia over condominium handover

The Oromia Regional State, which has been the epicentreof public protest from 2015 to 2018 propelling the reformist government of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) and co. to power, was rocked by a new wave of protest this week in relation to a planned transfer of condominium housing units to residents of Addis Ababa, which was constructed in the outskirts of Addis Ababa inside the special Zone of the Oromia Regional State, The Reporter has learnt.

The Wollega conundrum

Deputy Chief of Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) and Head of Military Operations, Berhanu Jula (Gen.), told reporters yesterday that life is returning back to normal in West Wollega Zone of the Oromia Regional State after more than a month of complete breakdown of law and order and heavy fighting between armed groups and members of ENDF deployed in the area to restore peace and order.

OLF, ODP step-up rhetoric

The two main contesting parties inthe Oromia Regional State:the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) and the Oromo Democratic Party (ODP) are stepping up theirrhetoricas the later said it will work to ensure law and order prevail in West Oromia and the formercautioning that it amounts to “declaration of war.”

OLF denounces military deployment to WestOromia

The Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) said that it is dismayed with the latest deployment of government military forces to West Oromia where its armed force is said to be activewithout the knowledge of party and a joint forum it formed with the Government of Ethiopia, The Reporterhas learnt.

Recent casualties irate ODP, OLF

The Oromo Democratic Party (ODP) and the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) issued a strong worded statement on Thursday and Friday, respectively, condemning the recent casualties along the borders of the Oromia and Benishangul Gumuz regional states, The Reporter has learnt.
