UK minister makes commitments, bumps heads with media

High-level visit by the United Kingdom’s International Development Secretary, Penny Mordaunt, this week, concluded with the announcement of a slew of grants, including one worth GBP 115 million with the Ministry of Finance and Economic Cooperation and endorsing the reforms of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) on democracy and human rights in Ethiopia.

Court grants extensions to institute charges on bomb attack suspects

Following the completion of the police investigation in to the suspects of the bomb attack at a rally organized in support of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on June 23, 2018, the court granted the Attorney General 15 and 10 days to institute charges on suspects organized under two charge files.

Preparations underway to organize conference on national consensus, reconciliation

The all-encompassing Ethiopian National Consensuses International Committee is undergoing a preparation to conduct a national conference at Addis Ababa before the end of August. The objective of the conference is aimed at bringing national consensuses and reconciliation with the presence of the ruling party and other stakeholders.
