Auction for ethio telecom shares due in two months

Irritated Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) debunked a passing remark by the prominent insurance and finance guru Eyesuswork Zafu during a telecom sector liberalization and ethio telecom privatization discussion when the latter referred to the PM’s party as EPRDF-2. Eyesuswork said that he usually calls the ruling party EPRDF-2 while commenting on the issues of privatizing ethio telecom and liberalizing the telecom market that was unanimously decided by the Ethiopian Peoples’ Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) two years ago.

Bracing for competition

The national telecom company, Ethio Telecom, has projected to generate a total revenue of 55.5 billion birr in the 2020-2021 budget year.

Communication authority to float bid by September

The Ethiopian Communication Authority (ECA) is under preparation to float an international tender that would enable it to select two international telecom firms which will operate in Ethiopia by September.

Ethio Telecom amasses 47.7 bln birr revenue

The national telecom company, Ethio Telecom, has generated 47.7 billion birr revenue in the 2019-2020 fiscal year that ended June30, 2020.
