As dozens of major airlines around the world cancel flights to China as a precaution over the outbreak of coronavirus, Ethiopian Airlines has refused to follow suit. This comes as the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the virus as a “global health emergency.” 

The World Health Organization (WHO) has presented an award recognizing Ethiopia’s House of People’s Representatives (HPR) legislative actions it passed to ban tobacco smoking indoors and in public places in Ethiopia.

A new statistics released during the gathering of the African Union summit this week has indicated an improvement of Ethiopia’s effort in tackling Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), known as the “disease of poverty” in the country.  However, the same report highlights the need to do more to eradicate the disease which is affecting millions of people.

A number of research outputs and medical reports are indicating an alarming level of increase in the overall rate of Cesarean deliveries a.k.a “C-sections” in Ethiopia with the procedure becoming more prevalent in private health institutions (as high as 46 percent of all deliveries) in Addis Ababa and other urban areas of the country.
