Blue ceases its existence

In a bid to form a nationwide, unified and strong opposition political party together with other like-minded opposition parties; the general assembly of the Semayawi Party a.k.a. Blue has decided to cease the existence of the party as of December 30, 2018, Getaneh Balcha, vice chairman of the party told The Reporter.

Soldiers of patriotic Ginbot 7 to relocate to camp in Ethiopia

Patriotic Ginbot 7 Movement for Unity and Democracy, in its first press briefing since its homecoming in September, stated that preparation is underway both by the government and the party to return some 550 of its soldiers to camps and rehabilitate them, Andargachew Tsige, general secretary of the party, disclosed on Wednesday, December 26, 2018.

Opposition gaining momentum

Semayawi Party a.k.a Blue announced it has finalized its preparation to conduct its second general assembly meeting by December 30, 2018 where the party is expected to deliberate on the issue of joining hands with two other parties: Patriotic Ginbot 7 Movement for Unity and Democracy and Ethiopian Democratic Party (EDP).

Blue calls for the institutionalization of reforms

Semayawi Party a.k.a. Blue calls on the government of Ethiopia to focus on building institutions to sustain the ongoing positive reforms in the country; the party expressed its concerns specifically with regards to the sluggish progress towards the reestablishment of democratic institutions such as the Electoral Board, Human Right Commission and the Institute of the Ombudsman, and the repealing of some legislations that hinders the democratization process in the country.

Blue revises program to prepare for upcoming election

Leaders of Semayawi Party, a.k.a. Blue Party, one of the prominent opposition political parties in Ethiopia, announced this week that it is revising its program, bylaw, and manifesto in a way to adjust itself with the ongoing political situation in the country and become an alternative political force in the upcoming national election.

EDP, Ra’ey et.al to meet for coalition talks

Blue demands “star” be removed from flag

Blue Party (Blue) in its press briefing held at its headquarters on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 officially requested the star emblem in the middle of the national flag to be scrapped and extended its question to use the older version of the flag without any additional emblem.
