Consultancy firm sues government officials over defamation

ABH Partners, a health consultancy firm, has sued five government officials on the basis of defaming its goodwill and reputation following communiques the defendants have dispatched through social and mainstream media regarding a postgraduate program that Jimma University run in partnership with ABH in its Campus in Addis Ababa; the plaintiff has claimed 174.6 million birr in compensation for damages caused to its operation due to unlawful and misguided statements that the defendants released to the public.

HERQA takesmeasures on 15 colleges, campuses

The Higher Education Relevance and Quality Agency (HERQA) has taken measuresagainst 15 private collages and higher-learning institutions for failing to meet regulatory requirements, which it says undermines the quality of education being delivered to students, The Reporter has learnt.

HERQA issues certificates, defies its own directive

Despite an earlier directive which prohibited extension education programs in health related fields, the Higher Education Relevance and Quality Agency (HERQA) issued a certificate for more than 3,000 students who graduated last year in the fields, The Reporter has learnt.
