The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum disclosed that the British energy firm New Age (African Global Energy Ltd) has discovered 1.6 Trillion Cubic Feet of natural gas reserve in the Ogaden basin, Somali Regional State.
The Chinese company, which is in the process of developing the natural gas fields in the Ogaden basin, Somali Regional State, Poly GCL Petroleum Investment, is negotiating with the Ethiopian Minerals, Petroleum and Bio Fuel Corporation on the government’s interest in the gas development project.
The Chinese oil and gas company, Poly-GCL Petroleum Investments, has awarded a 313 million dollars bid to another Chinese company, China Oil HBP Group, to commission the Calub and Hilala natural gas fields in the Ogaden basin, it was learnt.
Following the recent discovery of crude oil in Ethiopia, the Chinese Hanson International Glass PLC has taken the first delivery of 45,000 liters of the extract on Friday June 6, 2018, The Reporter has learnt.
Ethiopia’s first natural gas development project in the Ogaden basin, Somali Regional State, is delayed due to various reasons including complex negotiations with the Djiboutian government on gas pipeline construction to the port of Djibouti.
