Experts, academia express concern about population explosion

Anxious about what would happen once Ethiopia’s population doubles in 2050, a group of professionals and academics have decided to air their concerns and make recommendations on the required approaches to abate the socioeconomic misfortune that might befall the country in the coming thirty years because of an impending uncontrolled population explosion, The Reporter has learnt.   

UNFPA Commemorates 50th year anniversary in Addis

The United Nations Fund for Population (UNFPA) marked its 50th year anniversary in Addis Ababa at Sheraton Addis, in the presence of Naltalia Kanem (MD), UNFPA’s executive director and President Sahile-Work Zewde. The event also commemorated its 25 years, of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) which was first held in Cairo in 1994.

Marie Stopes, BlueStar team-up on family planning issues

Marie Stopes and BlueStar Healthcare Network are teaming up to help the issue of family planning. The new effort is set to target vulnerable populations in the rural parts of the nation. The new campaign worth 10 million birr is expected to target those between the ages of 15 – 29 dubbed – Family Planning Demand Creation Campaign.
