Demonstration rocks Wolayita

Residents of Wolayita Sodo town and its surroundings staged a demonstration on Friday May 17, 2019 demanding regional statehood of the zonal administration, economic benefits as well as respect for rights of Wolayitas all over the country.

AEUP accuses the South of detaining its supporters arbitrarily

The All Ethiopian Union Party (AEUP) has stated that its members and supporters are being subjected to arbitrary killings, gross human right violations and detentions in Gofa Zone of the Southern regional state.In addition, the party also demanded the government to take all necessary measures to stop these wrongdoings.

IDPs reach one mln

A new report released by Inter-Agency Working Group on Disaster Preparedness for East and Central Africa, an organization based in Kenya – indicated that close to one million people have been displaced due to an inter-communal conflict between West Guji and Gedio Zones.

Latest conflict intensifies No. of IDPs

Following the conflict along the border of Gedeo and West Guji Zones of the Southern and Oromia Regional States, not less than 200,000 people are said to be internally displaced.

The report disclosed by UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs on May 10, 2018 indicated that there is only a limited support and assistance for the displaced people coming from both the Ethiopian government and donors.

USAID 60 mln program to improve lives in Ethiopia

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), CARE Ethiopia and Catholic Relief Services and the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources launched a USD 60 million dollars program that will assist poor households in the rural highlands of Ethiopia
