Swedish minister praises reform in Ethiopia

Ahead of the International Conference on Climate Change and Global Warming summit 2019, set to take place in Stockholm, Sweden, from July 15-16, 2019, the Scandinavian nation’s Deputy Minister of International Cooperation, Per Olsson Fridh made a two day visit to Ethiopia and restated his nation’s support for the reform process taking place in the country during the last year.

Nordic businesses eye opportunities in Ethiopia

Nordic businesses are zeroing in on opportunities in Ethiopia despite what they are expressing as daunting challenges in the Ethiopia business environment. This was reflected in a seminar organized by the Royal Norwegian Embassy and Embassy of Sweden on October 24, 2018 at the Sheraton Addis Hotel, Addis Ababa.

Early Christmas for the needy

The charity group, Bright Star Relief and Development, known to operate a number of schools in the capital for vulnerable populations, including the homeless, sex workers and abandoned children hosted an early brunch and a gift-giving ceremony at the hall of the Merchandise and Wholesale Enterprise on Thursday. The group wanted to highlight the ideals of holiday; charity and brotherhood to people that are struggling during the holiday season.

IKEA eyes Ethiopian market for sourcing

At the opening of a photo exhibition at the Addis Ababa Museum, an initiative of the Swedish Embassy in the capital, its ambassador to Ethiopia and the African Union, Torbjörn Pettersson, announced IKEA, a Swedish furniture giant; the top furniture seller in the world is “seriously” considering sourcing from Ethiopia.
