Government appoints new leader for Tigray

As the conflict between the Ethiopian government and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) moves into a second week, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) announced a new leadership for the State of Tigray in a provisional administration to be set up in the region.  

Tigray amends constitution

The Council of the Tigray Regional State, which conducted its 9th emergency meeting on Thursday August 6, 2020 has amended Article 42, Sub Article 2 of the constitution which deals with the electoral system of the region, subsequently, according to the amendment, the electoral system has shifted to a mixed electoral system from the majority vote electoral system.

EPRDF denouncesTPLF’s stance over unified party

The Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) has downplayed the recent strongly-worded statement issued by the Tigray People Revolutionary Liberation Front (TPLF), one of its member parties, in relation to the ongoing efforts to create a unified party structure; the statement by TPLF violates the discipline and the working procedures of the front, the council lamented.
