Japanese city offers startup visa as nation debates immigration

A thriving city in central Japan, Kobe, has taken a daring move to offer what is called a startup visa program, a one-year visa package, for enterprising young business leaders wanting to setup shop in Japan, as the administration of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe tries to manage the fallout from another (national) program which offered a five-year Japanese visa for semi-skilled workers around world to curb the crippling labor shortage in the country.

Canadian visa application center suffers setback

Scores of people attempting to attain a Canadian visa are in limbo as the Canadian visa application center’s system in Ethiopia, operated by VFS Global in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Ethiopia, has stopped working for over a week compromising their chances of getting a visa.

Ethiopia starts issuing online visa

The government of Ethiopia has officially launched online visa system for any visa applicants from all over the world on Saturday June 9, 2018.

Before the launching of the service, the Main Department for Immigration and Citizenship Affairs has been piloting the implementation for the past 18 months in cooperation with Ethiopian Airlines.

Ethiopia to fully implement online visa

Ethiopia is to start issuing visa online as of June 4, 2018, The Reporter has learnt. The online visa system was first launched a year ago by Ethiopian Immigration and Nationality Affairs Main Department as a pilot project. It was only restricted for selected countries but now it will be open for all visitors across the world.
